Tuesday Market Is Hiring Fall 2012 Interns


Tuesday Market Seeks interns with a focus on Arts Education and Food Accessibility.

 


Tuesday Market – a weekly community-oriented farmers market in downtown Northampton – seeks two interns for the remainder of the 2012 season. Market hours are Tuesdays, 1:30-6:30 pm. Interns would work at least 4 hrs at the market every week (including helping with set-up and take down) and roughly 3 hrs/week doing either community outreach for the market or preparing kids' art activities.


Primary responsibilities at the market are running the wireless credit card machine for food stamps purchases, registering people for SNAP (food stamp) benefits, educating customers about our Tuesday Market tokens, collecting data for the market, communicating with the market vendors, and generally being welcomers of the public to the market.


In addition to these responsibilities, one intern will coordinate weekly art projects for kids and one intern will work on community outreach for our FoodStampsX2 program including doing research about similar programs at markets throughout New England. We are looking for interns who an commit to late August through November 20th when the market wraps up for the season.

There is no stipend, but interns will receive regular produce and other goods from the market, as well as an evaluation/recommendation at the end of the internship. * The hours for the Food Accessibility Internship are noon-4 on Tuesdays
